Smart phones may help

Abstract

The publication of Greenhalgh and colleagues’ evaluation of the HealthSpace platform coincided with the release of an iPhone app that we recently developed at Imperial Academic Health Science Centre. The Wellnote by Dr Darzi App (available free from iTunes) lets users record their medical details and medications and search for local NHS services via a smart phone—a mobile phone that offers more advanced computing ability and interactivity than a basic handset. The public response to our app contrasts greatly with the findings of this evaluation. The app has generated much interest from a broad range of users and is being widely used.
